Peter The 'Myddelton' family which have lived at Chirk castle since 1595 are leaving. This is due to the continued popularity of the castle. Which now has 80,000+ vistors a year.
And, as they can't take all their bits with them. There is to be an auction at the castle on the June 18th.
Items should go from £80,000 to £200. From four volumes of Etruscan, Greek and Roman antiquites for £20/30,000 to a locomotive plate inscribed "Chirk Castle" for just £15,000.
